Second Harvest Heartland is one of the largest, most efficient and innovative hunger-relief organizations in the nation. Working in partnership with a network of nearly 1,000 food shelves and hunger-relief programs, Second Harvest Heartland helps the 1 in 8 people, including 1 in 5 kids, in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin who experience hunger.
We are coming to the community with an urgent call to help us fight the greatest surge in hunger since the Great Depression. Tough times related to COVID-19 have left families out of work and facing food insecurity. In late July, when unemployment and other benefits ran out, an additional 275,000 people in Minnesota, including 112,000 kids, began living with hunger.
