From Stage 4 to Giving Back — Join Me in Supporting the Dempsey Center

Four years ago, this journey started with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Today, I’m grateful to be in complete remission—and focused on giving back.

Recently I was honored to be recognized as the Dempsey Center Hometown Hero and throw out the first pitch at the Portland Sea Dogs game.

Earlier this Spring I was invited by the Rock Row Health Campus team, working with the Dempsey Center, to share my story in a short video that reflects what this effort means to me now:

The Dempsey Challenge is the premier fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Center provides support, education, and wellness services to individuals and families impacted by cancer—improving their physical, emotional, social, and overall well-being at any point in their journey, all at no cost.

Over the past four years, what started as a personal cancer journey has become a commitment to giving back. That makes this year’s effort especially meaningful to me.

Two years ago, I also recorded an awareness video that has now been seen by nearly 300,000 people worldwide. If you’d like to learn more about my journey:
