In 2025, I rode the 50-mile road course in honor of Kim Charland who was battling stage-4 metastatic breast cancer. Kimmy lost this battle on March 22 this year and so I am again doing the 50-mile ride, this time in her memory. I am also riding in memory of Rick Urban who lost his battle with brain cancer on February 25 this year.
The Dempsey Challenge is the premiere fundraising event for the Dempsey Center, a nonprofit founded by actor Patrick Dempsey. The Dempsey Center makes life better for people impacted by cancer by easing the side effects of cancer by improving their physical, emotional, social, familial, and functional well-being at any point in their cancer journey--all at no cost.
