I paddled with Sail Beyond Cancer in the annual Dragonheart Festival and was instantly hooked. I joined days later, paddled a few times in September and enrolled in off season training with our talented head coach over the winter months.  During that time, I trained alongside member athletes of all ages, varying abilities - both supporters and survivors.  I was inspired and humbled.  They say this club changes peoples - it does. 

Once I hit the water in Burlington in May, I knew this club was for me.  Dragonheart Vermont is built on five values. The members practice these values every, single day. 

1. Teamwork: Twenty paddlers in a boat, stroking in unison. Everything we do starts here.

2. Resilience: Our roots are in breast cancer survivorship. We know what it means to keep going.

3. Community: We show up for each other and for Vermont. On the water, at the festival, in the off-season.

4. Caring: This is a team that hugs. We take care of our people.

5. Support: Survivors and supporters, side by side. That's how we paddle and how we live.

 I am both proud and honored to be a member of Dragonheart Vermont.
