Hello! My name is Isaac, welcome to my fundraising page!
I am a Vincennes University Graduate from Zionsville, Indiana and I'm thrilled to be a 2nd year rider for B4B this year. I have a twin sister and two loving parents that raised us Catholic. I discovered a love for service growing up as a Boy Scout as well as assisting with other service opprotunities and I discovered a love for cycling my freshman year at Indiana University when I joined a Little 500 team. I've been so blessed to encounter the people that led me to this mission as well as all of the people I've encountered over the years that helped me to grow into the man I am today. Now it's my turn to give back! My pregnancy resource center partner (PRC) is Heart to Heart in Vincennes, Indiana.
I have many reasons for becoming a missionary in the first place as well as returning as one. Mainly, my freshman year of college I had a close friend go through an unexpected pregnancy, she told me she was going to get an abortion. Being 19, I had no idea how to be of assistance or a direction to point to. All I knew was that it wasn't my kid and therefore not my problem.
I'm sure you can see the issue with this mentality.
My father says the only way to lead a happy life is to serve others. As I've grown older I attempt to live by that mentality every day.
So why B4B?
B4B assists PRCs by providing funds (fundraised by yours truly) to allow said centers to provide goods and services to assist parents and expecting parents with navigating pregnancies and early child development. Many provide clothes, diapers, formula, as well as other necessities. Many of these items which cannot be purchased with food stamps or government assistance. There is a gap that PRC's exist to assist with and B4B assists them.
Heart to Heart offers parenting classes and one on one classes between expecting/current mothers and volunteers from the community to foster healthy relaitonships between the sponsors and clients, as well as important life skills. Each client is more than just a number with a face, they're treated as family from the moment they walk in the door.
I ride to raise awareness and show dedication to this mission. On some of those tough climbs, days when it's too hot, or when the wind is particularly bad, my own experiences as well as the experiences of some of these women help to keep me going. It's easy to get out and ride when you're doing it for fun and the weather is nice but, it's much more impactful to get out and ride for someone else when the times are tough. In solidarity with whatever an expecting parent may be going through.
