I'm Running for the BGC of Mercer County
The Boys and Girls Club of Mercer County has demonstrated a remarkable ability to add value to club members. The mission is to break the “cycle of poverty” so many experience.
This is the fourth year for the “Run for Club Kids” project. Initially, RJ Lewis and I created the fundraiser to teach Club members the fundamentals of business. However, our mission has expanded over the years to encompass a broader goal of College Access. To date, we have raised $432,520 of which we set aside $190,000 for continued funding of the educational program.
This year is different. The COVID-19 Crisis has created unprecedented challenges to the inner-city members of the Club. With the Schools closed, underprivileged students need to negotiate the complexities of “Online Learning”. Regrettably, many do not have the technological resources. The B&G Club will be filling in the gaps. They have retooled every aspect of the Club to accommodate these ever expanding demands.
The overall Club goal this year is to raise $150,000 from 1000 donors. The Sheehy & Molinelli team goal is $40,000. We expect to have over 20 runners join for a Half Marathon, 10k, 5k, or a distance of their choice. My personal goal is $25,000.
I will run 100 miles during the month of October at age 73.
Thank you for your kind donation...
