What a day it will be!
Let me tell you a few things about Haiti:
- Their country has been in horrible turmoil all year, with danger on the roads and skyrocketing inflation.
- Only 60% of adults can read at a 6th grade level.
-
Their government does not provide school to rural communities.
-
The average income is $350 per year.
-
Some children cannot count of even one meal a day.
Here's my plan:
I'm going to Teaneck Packathon for Haiti on November 9 to help pack lunches for school children there. For the last 6 years I've been part of the hospitality team who make it all happen! And I take photos, of course! About 700 volunteers come to our gym at Grace Church in Teaneck to pack 123,000 meals for students in the schools in Trois Mares and Chapottin, Haiti. Our meals will be served 4 days a week. For the other day, we want to fund Haitian-sourced lunches to support farms and businesses there. I want to make sure those chldren can count on lunch every weekday through 2020.
This year, I want to help raise money in addition to my usual packathon efforts. My goal is to raise over $500 to cover the cost of food for several Bergen County kids to pack. Would you Donate Now to help me and my team reach our goal? Together, we can make a difference for 500 Haitian students!
Teaneck Packathon is organized by Future Forward for Haiti, Inc. It is a registered 501c3 non-profit, with no paid employees, so over 95% of your gift will go to help in Haiti. If you prefer to give with a check, please write it to Teaneck Packathon for Haiti and mail to Sue Papera, 604 Rhein Court, New Milford NJ 07646. FutureForwardforHaiti.org.
