What a day it will be!
Let me tell you a few things about Haiti:
-
Turmoil in the nation has made travel dangerous and inflation to skyrocket.
-
Only 60% of adults can read at a 6th grade level.
-
Their government does not provide school to rural communities.
-
The average income is $350 per year.
-
Some children cannot count of even one meal a day.
Here's my plan:
I'm going to Teaneck Packathon for Haiti on November 9 to help pack lunches for school children there. For the last several years, we have been part of the Hospitality Team, arranging meeting and works rooms and technology, packed lunches, run errands (and there are always errands) and generally making it all happen. About 700 volunteers come to our gym at Grace Church in Teaneck to pack 123,000 meals for hungry students of two schools in Haiti. Packathon meals will be served four days a week. For the other day, we want to fund Haitian-sourced lunches to support farms and businesses there. I want to make sure those chldren can count on lunch every weekday through 2020.
This year, we want to help raise money in addition to our usual packathon work. Our goal is to raise over $500 to actually pay for the food several young volunteers will pack. Will you help us? Together, we really can make a difference!
Donate Now to help us and our team reach our goal of helping needy kids in Haiti.
Teaneck Packathon is organized by Future Forward for Haiti, Inc. It is a registered 501c3 non-profit, with no paid employees, so over 95% of your gift will go to help in Haiti. If you prefer to give with a check, please write it to Teaneck Packathon for Haiti and mail to Sue Papera, 604 Rhein Court, New Milford NJ 07646. FutureForwardforHaiti.org.
