Please help Xander and I as we support HSHV's efforts to rescue more abandoned, lost and/or abused animals in 2026!
I am fundraising for Walk and Wag and Run, HSHV's biggest fundraiser of the year! Your donation will help with many programs that are dear to my heart. First and foremost is, of course, the Foster Program. We supply food, medical care and a safe place to lay their heads to animals in foster care. The Bountiful Bowls Program provides food for pets whose owners have fallen into financial hardship and need help keeping their pets in their home. The Safe Harbor Program provides care and shelter to pets whose owners can't care for them due to short-term hospital stays or a sudden loss of their home.
Last year, Xander and I fostered 2 beautiful, shy, abandoned dogs whose owners had given up on them. One was just a puppy, victim of a breeder who just threw away the puppies they couldn't quickly sell. We are happy to share that both Barley and Bitsy found forever homes after staying with us for a short time and learning that life doesn't have to be so scary.

Do you believe in saving animals from cruelty? In giving an injured dog lifesaving medical care? In caring round-the-clock for a litter of abandoned kittens? The Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) is there for the community's animals when they need help the most. As a no-kill shelter, HSHV has no time limits for animals; even if it takes months or years of training, medical care and TLC, they'll stick with an animal until they find just the right home.
