Women Swimmin' for Hospicare

I'm very excited to be participating in Women Swimmin' for my 3rd year. My involvement began when I walked by a window display of colorful cartoon women swimming in a local art store. When I read more about the event and its impact on local hospicare, I thought, "Why not?" Plus, growing up in Texas, my summer camp had a mile swim tradition at the end of the term, so I liked the idea of feeling like a kid again while giving back. Now, swimming has become a big part of my life and I'm grateful to be involved with this wonderful organization!

Here are my Women Swimmin' experiences:

2022: I signed up on a whim and started training at the YMCA and Cayuga Lake. I swam the 1.2 miles across the lake on event day with everyone and loved it!
2023: I waited too long to sign up (this event is popular!), so I volunteered to support the swimmers as a stand-up paddleboarder.
2024: This year, I will be swimming with our amazing Ithaca YMCA Masters swimming team!
