ASK Walk Fundraising Tips and Tools

Thank you so much for going above & beyond by signing up to fundraise either as a team or as an individual! By collecting donations, YOU make the real difference in the lives of children with cancer and their families in Virginia. How can you do that? Check out our Community Fundraising Tool Kit and the resources below to help you reach your goal!

Over the last eighteen years, this event has raised $2.3 million to help kids battling cancer in our community. With your help, we are able to provide financial assistance, community programming, educational and psychosocial support, and so much more for our ASK families. Learn more here

The ASK 5K & Fun Walk is a community event and reaching our fundraising goal will depend on how successful our teams are in their effort to raise money. Set the bar high!

Total contribution in just 4 days:

  • Host a fundraising party or event. Get creative! You could do anything from a lemonade stand to a karaoke party to a silent auction.

  • Add the event to your email signature: E.g. "Please consider making a donation to the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation" with a link to your fundraising page.

  • Get others involved! Ask someone who can’t participate in the race to help you collect donations.

  • Ask your friends to give up coffee for a day and donate what they would've spent.

  • Promote matching gifts! Use this link and share with your team to see what employers match: Matching Gifts Employer Search. Note, for matching gifts to be considered for awards and prize calculations, paperwork must be submitted by May 13th and you will need to contact Caitlin Glauser at cglauser@askccf.org.

  • Pick a Number: This is a large board (could be digital!) with numbers 1-55 on it. The idea is that friends and family can "Pick a Number" and donate that amount. Once they pick a number, that number is taken off the board. Or try it on social media! Just X out numbers as people claim them in the comments - then follow up with them on how to donate that amount to your team page. If all 55 numbers are taken, you'll raise $1,540! And no single person has to give more than $55.

Spread the Word!

Share these childhood cancer facts on your preferred social media platform to raise awareness within our community and to let your followers know why their help is so important. Don't forget to include a link to your fundraising page.
