AIDA’S ARMY 2018

IT’S TIME TO GET OUT AND FIGHT CHILDREN’S CANCER AGAIN!

It has been two years, February 19th, since Aida was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  It has been a long journey for our family with many days spent in VCU’s Children’s Hospital or VCU’s outpatient oncology for kids called the Nelson Clinic.  Aida’s treatment has progressed well but with many bumps in the road.  She’s lost her hair three times. Her body has blown up from the steroids. She’s had roughly 25 spinal taps, many different chemo drugs and much more.  Fortunately we’re now in her maintenance phase of treatment.  This maintenance phase will last another year with continued visits to the Nelson Clinic and with more chemo and spinal taps.  We’re very hopeful of continued progress but are always concerned about how her body will continue to react to treatment in the near future. 

Aida has a younger brother, Patrick, who is 11 years old. She has many passions in addition to her excellent school work. She’s an accomplished softball player that plays both spring and fall ball with Tuckahoe Little League and Tuckahoe Middle School. Aida also has an enormous love of animals, especially horses. Aida is a great artist. She picked this passion up from her grandfather. Other interests of hers are golf, the beach, her four dogs and many other things. She’s shy by nature but very sure of herself. Aida has been exceptional throughout her treatment. She’s always positive and patient when feeling well.

Aida, our family and friends are so moved by the support of the ASK Foundation that we have decided to do the ASK Walk 5K fundraiser again this year. Come join Aida and AIDA’S ARMY to help raise money again for such a great cause.  Proceeds donated to ASK help support the Nelson Clinic at the Children’s Hospital and cancer families in need.
