Welcome to My Personal Fundraising Page!

I am so excited to raise money for Sparrow Clubs through my participation in Dancing with the Central Oregon Stars! Donating to my page will not only help me compete for the Shining Star Award (most money raised), it will also help Sparrow Clubs continue to impact thousands of students with compassion by empowering them to help local families with children in medical need. Your support means so much to me and to Sparrow Clubs! Click the "Donate Now" button to become one of my supporters! Be sure to get your tickets to the show on October 17th to see me and the rest of our incredible cast in action! Thank you for cheering me on!

About Me!

Courtney Olson.pngCourtney's path to Bend wound through the Willamette Valley, where she grew up in Eugene, before taking her to the big cities, spending time in Portland, Houston, Seattle, and back to Portland again. Two years ago, that path led to Central Oregon, when she joined Hayden Homes as their Talent Acquisition Manager. Courtney's career began in HR, but it was recruiting where she found her passion — the chance to connect with every corner of a business and help place the talent that fuels its growth. Her career roots trace back to hospitality and restaurants, which explains why friends and family have long since dubbed her the resident foodie. Ask her for a restaurant recommendation, wherever you happen to be, and she'll almost certainly have one. Outside of work, Courtney and her husband, Kyle, plan their travels around the local food scenes, fan-girling over Top Chef alumni in nearly every city they visit. When they're home, life revolves around their dog — currently their second Great Pyrenees rescue, a breed their veterinarian has come to recognize as their unmistakable "type." Through Hayden Homes and its Give As You Go purpose, Courtney has come to know firsthand the incredible work of Sparrow Clubs. She's honored to participate as a Star in this year's show, because showing up — even when it's uncomfortable — is a small way she can mirror the courage that Sparrow kids and their families show every single day.

About my Hip Hop Coach!

Shannon Abero Guerrro.pngShannon Abero Guerrero grew up in Northern CA and has been dancing for over 30 years She was inspired by music videos on MTV in the 80’s and loved emulating moves from Janet Jackson to Paula Abdul and more! Shannon didn’t receive formal training until Highschool, where she was on the Cheer, Drill and the Dance Teams. Her older brother, Brian, soon discovered Hip-hop and introduced her younger sister to a class - - the rest is History. After receiving her BA in Psychology at Cal State University of Long Beach, Shannon worked for an AIDS intervention organization for a year, while still dancing on the side. Her love and passion for dance soon became her livelihood after booking a dance agent in Los Angeles. Some of her credentials include: House of Blues, Nike, Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Ellen Show. She has toured with Asian singers and has taught internationally as well. After dancing professionally for a few years in Southern California, Shannon became a dance instructor in Santa Barbara California and currently teaches all across Central Oregon (at The Dance Connection, Sisters Dance Academy & Bend Parks & Rec) sharing her love of dance with all her students! This is her fifth year participating in a Sparrow Clubs fundraiser and she is beyond excited to once again be one of the Pro Hip-hop team coaches! She hopes to raise awareness of the amazing work that Sparrow Clubs of Central Oregon does for our youth!
