About Me!
A native Oregonian, Jen has called Central Oregon home for more than 13 years and couldn't imagine living anywhere else. She and her husband are busy keeping up with their adventurous daughter, Sadie, and Rosie, their energetic Belgian Malinois. Whether she's hiking a trail, exploring a forest, or diving into her latest arts and crafts project, she loves the slower pace and endless outdoor adventures that come with living in Sisters. For the past five years, Jen has worked at Hayden Homes, where she's had the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with local nonprofits like Sparrow Clubs and be actively involved in giving back to the community. Helping create memorable experiences while supporting organizations that make a difference is one of her favorite parts of the job. Jen believes it's important to venture out onto the "skinny branches" from time to time—saying yes to opportunities that push her outside her comfort zone. So, despite never stepping onto a stage before, Dancing with the Central Oregon Stars felt like the perfect place to start. She's excited to support an incredible cause, have a little fun, and hopefully avoid stepping on too many toes along the way!
About my Hip Hop Coach!
Shannon Abero Guerrero grew up in Northern CA and has been dancing for over 30 years She was inspired by music videos on MTV in the 80’s and loved emulating moves from Janet Jackson to Paula Abdul and more! Shannon didn’t receive formal training until Highschool, where she was on the Cheer, Drill and the Dance Teams. Her older brother, Brian, soon discovered Hip-hop and introduced her younger sister to a class - - the rest is History. After receiving her BA in Psychology at Cal State University of Long Beach, Shannon worked for an AIDS intervention organization for a year, while still dancing on the side. Her love and passion for dance soon became her livelihood after booking a dance agent in Los Angeles. Some of her credentials include: House of Blues, Nike, Memoirs of a Geisha, and The Ellen Show. She has toured with Asian singers and has taught internationally as well. After dancing professionally for a few years in Southern California, Shannon became a dance instructor in Santa Barbara California and currently teaches all across Central Oregon (at The Dance Connection, Sisters Dance Academy & Bend Parks & Rec) sharing her love of dance with all her students! This is her fifth year participating in a Sparrow Clubs fundraiser and she is beyond excited to once again be one of the Pro Hip-hop team coaches! She hopes to raise awareness of the amazing work that Sparrow Clubs of Central Oregon does for our youth!
