Why Horizons at SCH Matters to Me: I am incredibly proud of the transformative work we are accomplishing at Horizons at Springside Chestnut Hill and of our mission as a tuition-free academic and enrichment program for Philadelphia public school students who face barriers to opportunity. This summer, Horizons at SCH is thrilled to welcome 90 students for six weeks of rigorous academics and joyful enrichment, including swimming, sports, arts, and outdoor education. We are also enhancing our impact by bringing on new reading and math specialists to further support student success. As a Board member and active volunteer, it is inspiring to see the growth of the program, the strengthening of our student volunteer initiative and the collaborations we’ve fostered between Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, local businesses, and our dedicated non-profit partners—including the First Tee, USTA, Wissahickon Skating Club, and Urban Youth Kings and Queens. These alliances are essential, providing our students with the unique perspectives, resources, and life-changing opportunities they deserve. Seeing students thrive and witnessing the direct impact of our fundraising efforts, such as our recent Giving Day, reinforces how vital this program is for our community.
