My name is Sheetal Dewan. It has been 8 years, since the Stage IV or metastatic breast cancer (MBC) diagnosis in the summer of 2018. As a mom of 2 really little boys then, I didn't know how long or how much of my babies I would be around to see.
From the first time that the cancer had spread to the liver, to this past year where it metastasized to the brain, it is thanks to the advances in cancer care, cutting edge radiation and surgery technology and the research of newer treatment options that I'm still here, cherishing every moment the universe has been kind enough to offer.
Cultivating a daily yoga practise has helped keep my faith higher than my fears and my body strong enough to withstand all that comes with the toxicity of the lifelong treatments.
Join me as I bring my 2 passions together : yoga and advocacy for MBC research, with a donation based yoga session, generously offered by Gemma from Gratitutude Yoga Princeton.

WHAT IS #LightUpMBC ?
The #LightUpMBC campaign is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds for MBC research to benefit METAvivor. Held annually in October, hundreds of iconic landmarks around the world are illuminated in the symbolic MBC awareness colors of green, teal, and pink; shining light on the urgent need for more research and resources to improve outcomes for MBC patients.
#LightUpMBC Live is a dynamic virtual event that serves as the centerpiece of the #LightUpMBC campaign, bringing together the MBC community and its supporters for an evening of storytelling, inspiration, and impact. Hosted on October 13 on Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, amplify the mission of raising awareness and funds for MBC research. #LightUpMBC Live provides a platform for education and advocacy, highlighting the urgency of funding scientific breakthroughs for the most advanced stage of breast cancer.
