Every day 117 people in the U.S. die of metastatic breast cancer (MBC), also known as Stage 4, where the breast cancer has spread to other parts of the body. Funding MBC research is the only way to find a cure!
ABOUT ME
Please add your story here
March 2026 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer.
In January, I experienced a miscarriage that completely broke my heart. I was still trying to find my way through that grief when, just two months later, I found a lump in my breast. I went in for my very first mammogram, never imagining what was coming. When the radiologist said, “It doesn’t look good, we need a biopsy,” my world started to shift.
March 2026 I got the news—it was breast cancer. In that moment, everything felt like it shattered. Then came more tests… and even more devastating news. The cancer has spread to my liver, my bones and brain. I’m only 35, with no family history, and I still struggle to understand how this is my reality. Every day I keep asking, “why me?” How is this happening? This can’t be real.
The past few months have been filled with tears, anger, fear, and heartbreak. I have HER2 positive breast cancer, an aggressive form, which only added to the fear. I am actively in treatment with a drug called Enhertu—a treatment my doctor described as a powerful new breakthrough. I’m holding onto hope in that, even knowing the road ahead won’t be easy.
One of the hardest parts has been knowing how much this will affect my life and my family. I was not able to use a cold cap so I have been losing my hair—and that alone has been incredibly hard to accept, especially thinking about my girls watching me go through this. On top of that, because I am metastatic I will be on treatment my entire life, and that will take away my ability to have more children. That is a loss I’m still trying to process, and one that breaks my heart in ways I can’t fully put into words. I’m broken.
But in the middle of all this pain, I look at my two daughters and I’m reminded of what truly matters. They are my light, my strength, my reason to keep going. My angels on earth. They give me a reason to fight every single day. And I will fight—with everything I have.
To my husband, my rock—you’ve held me together in my darkest moments. I don’t know how I would do this without you.
And to my family and friends, your love, support, and prayers have meant more than I could ever express. Thank you for carrying me when I feel like I can’t stand on my own.
The love and support I’ve been wrapped in over these past few months have touched my heart in a way I’ll never fully be able to express. In a time that feels so heavy, you’ve all reminded me how much light and goodness surrounds me. It’s something I will carry with me always.
From the deepest place in my heart—thank you for showing up, for lifting me up, and for loving me through this. I will never forget it. ?
I don’t know what the road ahead will look like, but I do know this—I’m not giving up. I will keep fighting for my life, for my family, for every moment still to come.
Please keep me and my family in your prayers.
And one day, I will ring that bell. That will be a moment I’ll hold onto forever.
It’s time to fight and kick cancers ass.
I refuse to let my story end here.
WHAT IS #LightUpMBC ?
The #LightUpMBC campaign is a global initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds for metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research to benefit METAvivor. Held annually in October, the campaign partners with hundreds of iconic landmarks around the world to illuminate in the symbolic MBC awareness colors of green, teal, and pink. By uniting patients, families, and supporters, #LightUpMBC shines a spotlight on the urgent need for more research and resources to improve outcomes for MBC patients.
#LightUpMBC Live is a dynamic virtual event that serves as the centerpiece of the #LightUpMBC campaign, bringing together the metastatic breast cancer (MBC) community and its supporters for an evening of storytelling, inspiration, and impact. Hosted annually on October 13 on Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, this live-streamed program features powerful stories from MBC patients and their families, musical performances, and appearances by special guests who amplify the mission of raising awareness and funds for MBC research. #LightUpMBC Live provides a platform for education and advocacy, highlighting the urgency of funding scientific breakthroughs for the most advanced stage of breast cancer.
