~ CALLED TO MISSION ~
WHO AM I?
Howdy! My name is Chris. I'm 25 years old and work in the news media industry in Western Pennsylvania. This is my second year of involvement with Biking for Babies, and I now have the great honor of serving as a team leader. I'm absolutely psyched to begin the 2026 missionary season, doing what I can to make a difference in the lives of my teammates and — most importantly — of expecting mothers.
MY BIG THREE
Biking for Babies challenges us missionaries to consider our "big three":
(1) What am I doing?
(2) Why am I doing it?
(3) Who am I doing it for?
Since last year, I've had plenty of time to reflect on these questions, and my answers are constantly evolving.
Over the coming months, I will be fundraising to support the mission of Biking for Babies, dedicating time and energy that are at a premium at this point in my life. But as I often say, the hardest things in life are the most worth doing. It's only by laying down our own desires and emptying ourselves that we can open a greater capacity to love and serve others. That's what I'm doing with Biking for Babies: embracing intentional inconvenience, discomfort, and suffering for my own betterment. This will become even more real when my team and I embark on a 600-mile bike ride this summer! It's all for a greater good.
For much of my life, I served only myself. I was driven by selfishness and embraced many false beliefs and views simply because they were popular or validated my worldview. At 19 years old, God changed my heart and led me on a better path. This included fully opening my eyes to the fact that a child in the womb is still a child, endowed with inherent dignity and deserving every respect that a human being outside the womb is due. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you" (Jeremiah 1:5). I regret my time spent in ignorance and am motivated to pay forward the second chance given to me. Biking for Babies is helping me to do just that. Through my missionary work, I can share God's goodness with others, promote the dignity of life, and make a real, positive impact on mothers and their children.
Biking for Babies has exposed me to the incredible work of pregnancy resource centers (PRCs). The centers we partner with truly care for women and their children. Their care doesn't end once the baby is born. Rather, our PRCs wrap women in care and services, ensuring they have the resources needed to live out their remarkable calling as mothers. This includes counseling, parenting instruction, baby supplies, and loving affirmation that many of these women sadly lack. Truly, these women are my motivation. They are strong, they are intensely loving. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to say "yes" to your child when all of society and many of your loved ones are telling you "no." I deeply admire and am humbled by these women, these mothers, and if I can support them even slightly through Biking for Babies, then I count myself truly blessed. I commend our PRCs and their staff for the magnificent work they're doing in upholding these women's dignity and that of their children.

- Christopher Dacanay I know the fiscal year has ended. A mission partner gave me $20 at the last minute. I'm sending it in as a donation to the organization, recognizing it won't be credited to my 2025 campaign. As long as the money supports the mission, that's what counts. Thank you, Chris -Faithful Friday donation 4 weeks ago $20.00
