I’m heading back to the mountains this August—this time to the High Sierras—for another Timmerman Traverse. After experiencing it once, I understood why so many leaders return. It’s more than a physical challenge; it’s a true “triple threat”—we’re raising awareness for young scientists, generating meaningful funding, and building lasting relationships across academia and industry. In just a few short years, this effort has brought together over 200 biotech leaders and raised more than $15 million—proof of what’s possible when belief, grit, and mission come together.

We have all lost many loved ones to cancer and know many more who are suffering with cancer.

Through the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, 100% of every dollar directly supports exceptional early-career scientists pursuing bold, high-risk ideas that traditional funding often overlooks—work that is already advancing breakthroughs in areas like glioblastoma and novel cancer-targeting therapies.
