Angel is a 14-year-old Kikuyu girl from Sweetwaters, Wathituga, in Laikipia, and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She grew up in a two-room timber house and used to live alone with her father, a casual laborer who did not complete primary school. Her childhood was marked by instability and hardship, and she often endured a difficult home environment. She has no siblings and now lives with her aunt, where she has found greater stability and support.
Despite these challenges, Angel has remained committed to her education. In school, she served as the environmental prefect, demonstrating strong leadership and responsibility. She loves planting trees, singing, reading novels, and playing football.
Angel dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon or an environmental Cabinet Secretary. She describes Daraja as a place that transforms girls’ lives, sharing that arriving there felt like a dream come true, a saving grace from a stressful world.
