Race 4 Daraja 2026 ○ San Domenico School
Quote: “The day I came to Daraja was the day the door to my dreams opened.” -Pauline
Pauline is a 16-year-old Luhya girl from Ngerek village in Nandi County and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She is the youngest of six children and lives with her parents and one of her brothers. Her parents are elderly and have difficulty providing for the family. Pauline was often sent home from school due to a lack of fees. Her community is rural and surrounded by forests, with stony farmland and poor road access.
Despite these challenges, Pauline has remained determined to continue her education. In primary school, she served as a class prefect and started a project growing and selling spinach to buy stationery items for her classmates. In her free time, she enjoys playing football, reading, and singing.
Pauline dreams of becoming a doctor and building a hospital in her village. She believes in the power of women as changemakers and describes Daraja as a place where she feels seen and is given the space to grow.
