I'm racing for Caren!

Caren and I are racing 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Caren's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!

Caren's Story

Caren is a 17-year-old Kalenjin girl from Kerio Valley and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She is from the remote village of Katieny, a dry and sparsely populated area where mango farming is the main source of income. Caren lives in a one-room mud-and-stone house with her parents and four younger siblings. Her father has a lung condition, and her mother works hard collecting firewood and washing clothes to provide for the family. Caren has faced poverty, hunger, and interruptions to her schooling due to a lack of fees.

Despite these challenges, she has remained determined to continue her education. In primary school, she served as a class representative. Caren enjoys athletics and debating. She dreams of becoming an accountant and believes that education is the key to empowering women and transforming communities.

To Caren, Daraja is a place where girls can grow into tomorrow’s leaders.
