Milcah and I are racing 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Milcah's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!
Milcah is a 16-year-old Taita girl from Voi, Taita Taveta, and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. Her family consists of her mother and six siblings. Her family has struggled to secure even one meal a day, and the long walk to fetch water often leaves her exhausted. At home, Milcah lives with her younger sister, mother, and her aunt in a mud house with an earth floor. She describes it as a nice house, though she dreams of improving it through her education and future success.
Milcah served as an environmental leader at school, a role she found both meaningful and engaging. She enjoyed planting trees andĀ helping clean the school compound. She also loves playing sports, as it keeps her physically active and helps her learn new skills.
Milcah aspires to become a cardiologist so she can help improve the lives of her family and community. She shares that after joining Daraja, itĀ is a dream she feels empowered to work towards.
