Felistus is a 15-year-old Kamba girl from Machakos County and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She lives with her parents and five siblings in a one-room mud house. To fetch water, the family walks about twenty minutes to the nearest borehole, where they must pay for access. This process is both challenging and time-consuming. Neither of her parents attended high school.
Felistus was the head girl at her previous school, where she was committed to treating her fellow students with dignity and respect. She loves reading and playing football because she feels these activities help nurture her talents.
Felistus dreams of growing up to help her community. She describes Daraja as the bridge that will lead her to a more positive future and allow her to one day give back to the people in her life.
