I'm participating in the 2023 Winter Walk because I see the direct effects that this fundraiser has on the homless and housing insecure population in Boston and the surrounding areas. This is my 1st and BMC’s 6th consecutive year participating in Winter Walk. Working with the Emergency Department at BMC has given me unique insight to the stuggles facing this community. 

Homelessness and housing insecurity are some of the most pressing concerns among BMC’s patients. One in four eligible families have access to affordable housing. In Boston the waitlist for affordable housing units is 8 to 10 years.

The funds that BMC recieves from Winter Walk go toward supporting many of the patients who enter our Emergency Department. Because of your donations, BMC is not only able to provide medical care for our patients but also reinvigorate a sense of wellbeing and dignity through social work, winter care packages, funding for emergency housing, and much more.
