As a mom, wife, adventurer and caregiver, Doty was unmatched. She loved her family fiercely and was always adopting more people she felt needed a little more love. She was an amazing cook, gardener, story teller and listener.
She and her husband, Hank, took on every sort of project for all their kids, grandkids and great grandkids.
While Doty's world often revolved around family, she enjoyed many adventures like bull riding, bungee jumping, white water rafting, solo backpacking to Tanzania, visits to New Zealand, Various European Countries, Ecuador, and Poland. She has friends all over the world and kept them all close to her heart.
Doty started showing troubling symptoms mid-December 2021. She was seen by many excellent specialists as her symptoms evolved, yet her health declined quickly. She passed away on Monday, January 24th, Three weeks after being diagnosed with probable Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare, rapidly-progressing neurodegenerative disorder.
Doty is lovingly remembered as incredibly kind, funny, warm, and compassionate. She is terribly missed, and her family is striving to move forward in accordance with her values and spirit.
Her family wishes to financially support research to better understand CJD, for which there is currently no known cure or treatment. It is our hope that better diagnostics, treatments, prevention, or a cure are possible in the future so that other families do not have to receive this devastating prognosis.
