Frankie Mae has been on quite the journey since entering this world 6 months ago. Our family was shocked to find out that our precious baby was born with a severe, life threatening heart defect. Our lives changed moment to moment as we learned about what Frankie Mae's path would look like. We took a leap of faith and Frankie had her first heart surgery on the day after Easter, April 10.

Frankie Mae has been home for 2 months now! She loves to be in the middle of the action, she puts everything that she can get her hands on in her mouth, she adores her two older sisters, and she is in constant motion when she is awake. She is our constant reminder that miracles are real, to take things as they come, and to find gratitude daily. 

Before entering the Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) community, we had no idea how common heart defects are. Every 15 minutes, a baby in this country is born with a congenital heart defect, making CHDs America's most common birth defect. The Congenital Heart Walk is dedicated to raising funds to support The Children's Heart Foundation's mission: to advance the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of CHDs by funding the most promising research. More specifically, we are walking to celebrate Frankie's precious life, to give thanks to her incredible team of doctors, surgeons, nurses, techs, and therapists, and to be together in community with our village who prayed for us and for Frankie at every turn.
