My name is Brittany. I’m 31 years old and I live in western New York with my husband and 3 beautiful children. I am also a school nurse in my hometown. It’s always been a passion of mine to care for others and be a healthy role model. I love to exercise, cook/bake, garden, and just be with my family. Last year I was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 2 related schwannomatosis. Now that’s a mouthful! Neurofibromatosis is a rare genetic disorder that cause tumors to grow on nerve tissue. Having no family history, I had a spontaneous mutation in lucky chromosome #22. There is no cure for NF2.. YET. But there is so much hope! I am making it a part of my mission to raise awareness of this rare disease and be a part of a cure. We don’t get to choose what we are victims of, but we do get to choose how we react to it.
