Purity and I are racing 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Purity's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!
Purity is a 15-year-old girl from Karigira Village in Embu and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2027. She lives with her parents, a sister, and three cousins in a mud house. At home, Purity walks two kilometers to fetch water three times a day on weekends, carrying 20 liters each time. She also accompanies her mother on weekends to help her work on other people’s farms.
Her father does not work, as an accident left him unable to walk. With limited time for homework, a lack of school fees, and frequent hunger, Purity faced many challenges. Despite this, she has remained resilient and committed to pursuing her education. She enjoys acting in theater and playing football.
Purity dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon to help reduce deaths and improve healthcare in her community. Her role model is Dr. Steve, who treated her father when he was hospitalized.
