Precious, translating to “precious gift,” is a 15-year-old girl from Kajiado County and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2027. She comes from a small village called Embul-Bul and lives with her single mother in a shared, rented single-room stone house with an iron sheet roof. In her area, most people are construction workers. Her mother is a hawker whose income has varied. Precious and her mother have been locked out of their house, forcing them to live with neighbors and friends due to late rent payments. Precious had to rely on candlelight for homework because of frequent blackouts.
Precious performs well in her academics, as well as playing basketball and netball. She was the environmental prefect back in her primary school. During her leisure time, she loves drawing and reading storybooks. Precious is a smart and respectable girl who dreams of becoming a doctor and being of great importance to her community.
