Race 4 Daraja 2026 ○ The Bush School
"Life would sometimes push me to the wall. I had to work as a maid to pay my school fees and stay in class. My father works on people’s farms, and my mother sells fruits and vegetables to sustain us. I vowed never to drop out,’ Vivian shares.
Vivian is from Kericho County, known for its vast tea plantations, and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2027. She is the tenth-born in a family of eleven children. They live in a two-room mud house with an iron-sheet roof. The family walks three kilometers to fetch water from a river, each carrying 20 liters. Vivian often had to stay home from school for extended periods due to a lack of fees.
Vivian believes that with the right education, girls can transform their families and communities. Her role model is her mother, who has always been there for her. She aspires to become a lawyer so she can ensure justice for the vulnerable in her society.
