Britney is a 15-year-old Luhya girl from Makadara, Nairobi, and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She lives with her mother, two sisters, and a brother. She used to live with her father, but because he is polyamorous, Britney’s mother decided to move out with her and her siblings. They now stay in a mud house with a single room. Hunger has been a constant in Britney’s life. On weekends, she began washing clothes for others to earn money and help provide for her family, especially when her mother fell ill.
Britney loves giving speeches, as it makes her feel courageous. She also enjoys music, specifically playing the drums, because it makes her feel empowered. Britney dreams of becoming an oncologist so she can help save lives affected by cancer. She also hopes to build an orphanage to support children living on the streets. She shares that Daraja is her opportunity to achieve these dreams.
