I'm racing for Peninah!

Peninah and I are racing 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Peninah's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!

Peninah's Story

Peninah is a 17-year-old Yaaku girl from Laikipia North and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She lives with her mother in Kurikuri Village in a three-room mud house. She describes her village as a place of peaceful harmony between the Maasai and Yaaku people. Her parents separated some time ago due to her father having multiple wives, which created a difficult period in her life. Neither of her parents completed primary school.

Peninah, however, served as her school president, where she focused on guiding her fellow students to be accountable in their roles. She loves reading, playing netball, and cooking as a way to explore new recipes.

She describes Daraja as her everything: her home, her family, and her school. Peninah aspires to become a doctor so she can help people in need.
