Race 4 Daraja 2026

Jane is a 17-year-old Kikuyu girl from Thingithu in Nanyuki and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She lives with her single mother, sisters, and young relatives in a simple two-room stone house. The mother’s limited income barely covers the family’s basic needs. Jane has had to balance her schoolwork with many responsibilities at home.

Despite these challenges, Jane has remained deeply committed to her education. At school, Jane showed strong leadership as the leader of the 4K club and as a garden prefect, reflecting her love for agriculture. Jane enjoys planting and gardening, reading, listening to music, and reciting poems. She dreams of becoming a veterinarian because she loves animals, and she also hopes to one day become a professional chef, combining her passion for care and creativity.

Jane describes her arrival at Daraja as a day of joy, crying tears of happiness. For her, Daraja truly feels like home, a place of love, support, and opportunity.


