Precious is a 14-year-old Kikuyu girl from Githurai in Kiambu County and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. Precious lives with her mother and two siblings in a small one-room home in a densely populated slum where resources are limited. Her mother earns a living by collecting and selling plastic. The area where they live is very unsafe, with many drug addicts and alcoholics roaming the streets.
Precious has faced many challenges growing up, including instability at home and financial hardships, but she has remained committed to her education. At school, Precious served as a class prefect, showing leadership and responsibility. She enjoys reading novels, singing, playing football, and scouting.
Precious dreams of becoming an agricultural engineer so she can help protect the environment and create a greener future. She also hopes to one day open a scholarship school for children living on the streets. Precious describes crying happy tears on the day of arrival, overwhelmed by the love of the other students.
