I'm racing for Tabitha!

Tabitha and I are racing 10 kilometers in support of girls' education. Any money we raise goes directly to Daraja Academy in Kenya and Tabitha's education. Thank you for your help! Or, as they say in Kenya, ASANTE SANA!

Tabitha's Story

Quote: “If Kenyan women are educated, they can change Kenya, because only a woman remembers to change her community.” -Tabitha

Tabitha is a 15-year-old Pokot girl from West Pokot County and will graduate from Daraja with the Class of 2028. She comes from Chesogon village, a rural village where many families face poverty and challenges such as early marriage, harmful traditional practices, and corruption. Tabitha lives with both her parents and seven siblings in a small one-room mud house. Her father is polygamous and has two wives, Tabitha’s mother being the second wife. Her father is a farmer, and her mother, who never had the chance to attend school, supports the family through occasional casual work. Access to basic needs is difficult, and Tabitha often walks long distances to fetch water.

Despite these hardships, she has remained committed to her education. She served as a peer counselor and football captain, showing strong leadership and care for others. She loves singing and playing ball games.

Tabitha dreams of becoming a doctor and starting a children’s home. She hopes to end harmful practices like FGM in her community. Tabitha describes Daraja as a place full of role models who believe in her.
