Walk & Wag and Run 2026

This is my 10th year at the Humane Society of Huron Valley! I'm hoping to celebrate my decade (eek) anniversary with a good year of Walk and Wag fundraising.

With all the immediate and worthy causes to support right now, even a share is much appreciated. Here are all the reasons I'm still so proud to be here:

Amazing coworkers who have worked so hard to keep up with the nationwide trend of more animals being surrendered to shelters and fewer people looking to adopt. It's been CRAZY over here and our team has been incredible dealing with the increased numbers.
A shelter medical team who tackles a mind-boggling variety of hot messes.
A rescue team made up of some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, who run all over Washtenaw County at all hours of the day and night answering calls about injured wildlife, dogs left out in the cold, and all kinds of abuse and neglect situations which you may never expect could happen right in your own neighborhood.
A top-notch behavior team who prioritizes positive reinforcement training, and -- not even kidding -- individually works with every single dog and cat to determine a training regimen for them, what housing options at the shelter will work best for them, how we can lower their stress, what sort of home they would thrive in.
A huge increase in the amount of help we're giving to PEOPLE who are struggling, since this in turn directly affects pets. That means volunteers going to seniors' homes to walk their dogs. Arranging free rides for people who need to get to the vet. Providing free vet care. Giving away pet food. Pop-up vaccine clinics around the community. This is the type of mutual aid that only continues to be more important.
A team of educators who are so dedicated to bringing our educational programs out into the community, to kids who otherwise might not have access to visiting our shelter.

And so much more! Any amount toward this old lady's 10 Year Anniversary goal will mean a lot. Thank you!!
