All the doggies, kitties, bunnies, birdies and other furries thank you too!  It is my 11th year working for this amazing organization and I love it.

The Humane Society of Huron Valley (HSHV) is there for the community's animals when they need help the most. As a no-kill shelter, HSHV has no time limits for animals; even if it takes months or years of training, medical care and TLC, they'll stick with an animal until they find just the right home.  My foster dog, Maroon (AKA Rooney), is one of the many examples of this.  He was left tied to a parking lot sign in November 2024.  He has overcome so much during his time at HSHV.  His anxiety was off the charts but with training, love, and medical care, he can manage these big feelings appropriately.  Rooney is a goofy, sensitive guy that loves his people.  He will enrich the lives of his new family once we find them!

This is possible because of supporters like us. They need our help! 

HSHV supports pet parents too!  Emergency harbor, Bountiful Bowls and Friends for Life are just a few of the special programs HSHV offers to help those who need a little help.  The emergency harbor program helps families in other urgent housing situations with no other options, including house fires, natural disasters, domestic abuse situations, and owners experiencing a medical emergency. Bountiful Bowls provides pet food assistance until the pet parents get back on track.  Friends for Life helps protect the bond between people and their companion animals, with a focus on senior citizens.  The services are extensive but some highlights include financial assistance for veterinary care, transport to/from vet appointments, and behavior help.
